in the late 80's from its original position on the ground floor
complex up to
what used
to be the bedrooms of the old working
mens club caretakers
flat at the top of the building.
The production studio is where I spent much of my time at Mercia,
I was responsible for the commercials. The local commercials were mainly produced
at BRMB in Birmingham and sent via landline to this studio,
national commercials
were received by satellite from SMS (Satellite Media Service) this was achieved
by
SMS remote controlling the Sony D.A.T. recorder (which can be seen sitting on
top of the desk)
many national programmes were also sent via SMS and recorded in this studio onto
reel to reel tape.
